At long-established Brazilian company Itambé Alimentos S/A, one of the country’s largest dairy companies, the outlook is for continued expansion and modernisation. To expand production capacity at the company’s factory at Pará de Minas in the federal state of Minas Gerais, Itambé has once again opted for a filling machine from SIG Combibloc. Itambé will be aseptically packaging innovative milkshakes with the company’s fourth SIG filling machine, a CFA 712 for filling combiblocSmall and combifitSmall. This filling machine can fill up to 12,000 carton packs per hour

Itambé has been a customer of SIG Combibloc since 2008. The company’s first SIG filling machine was put into operation at the Goiânia production plant, where the main focus of production is filling condensed milk. Other SIG filling machines are in operation at Itambé’s Uberlândia and Sete Lagoas production plants. In Uberlândia, the primary product is UHT milk, packaged in combiblocMidi 1,000 ml carton packs with combiSwift screw cap. Production is on a SIG CFA 812 filling machine. In Sete Lagoas, as in Goiânia, condensed milk is filled in carton packs from SIG Combibloc.

Antonieta Hilst, Market Director at SIG Combibloc South America: “Itambé is one of our biggest dairy customers in Brazil. The decision to bring in a fourth SIG filling machine once again reaffirms our partnership. We are very pleased with how satisfied Itambé is with the filling technology and packaging solutions from SIG Combibloc, and we’re confident that this will lead to further joint projects in the near future”.

Alexandre Almeida, president at Itambé: “For us, the decision to have another filling machine from SIG Combibloc is the logical consequence of the great partnership between our two companies. In addition, we’ve always been particularly impressed by the flexibility of the filling machines from SIG Combibloc – as regards the variety of products, and the format and volume flexibility. On a single filling machine, we can safely fill not only standard products, but also innovative special products in two different formats and several volumes. These criteria strongly influenced our decision”.
